Desert kickers enjoying fresh mountain air

Currently the desert club Al-Wehda FC Mecca are in an IFCS-organized camp in St. Lambrecht

Currently St. Lambrecht hosts Al-Wehda Club Mecca from Saudi Arabia. It is the fresh mountain air that the desert kickers enjoy in Styria´s Mur valley. After all, the training takes place at almost 1,000 meters (1,093 yards) above sea level. Under their Algerian head-coach Kheirredine Madoui the squad from Mecca meets twice a day for training, and right now the weather conditions are almost perfect. Apart from a few short rain showers St. Lambrecht´s sports centre with their industrious ground keeper Franz can offer perfect conditions at temperatures of 25 degrees centigrade.

Four test matches are scheduled within this two-and-a-half-week-long training camp. For Al-Wehda the great highlight will the friendly test match against the Italian Serie A club US Palermo in Bad Kleinkirchheim on Wednesday. On Saturday, July 30th, there will still be a test match against the Slovenian team NK Dob before the Al-Wehda squad heads to Vienna´s Schwechat airport for their flight home on Sunday.
