In the home games of the elimination finals Austria´s U-19 is fighting to reach the European team finals.
On Thursday the U-19 national squad (March 24th, 6 p.m., Rohrbach/Lafnitz) starts into the final phase of this elimination tournament against Slovakia. The so-called “elite round” is carried out on East Styrian home ground. The further opponents trying to reach the European team finals are Slovakia, Romania and the Czech Republic.
“Our opponents in our group are very interesting. We look forward to having the elimination round for the team finals on home ground for the first time. Our goal is reaching the team finals. This is, however, also what the other teams want to achieve. We need to play three good matches”, team coach Rupert Marko says. Due to injury Marko has to do without Sturm Graz player Sandi Lovric. „I am absolutely enthusiastic about this elite round at home in Austria! I can hardly wait to run onto the pitch in front of a home crowd. I have confidence in our team”, the U-19 captain Marco Krainz says full of anticipation.
